‘A suitable boy’ is set to release on Netflix

Mira Nair’s much-awaited trailer of ‘A suitable boy’ based on Vikram Seth’s novel named the same got released on social media on Saturday.   Within a short period, it easily got in the list of trends. This BBC’s miniseries is also set to get released on Netflix soon. Also, not much to your surprise, this book still holds the record to be one of the longest novels published in a single volume, which is incredible in itself.  Starring Tabu, Ishaan Khatter, Tanya Maniktala, Rasika Dugal, Mahira Kakkar, and Ram Kapoor, these bunch of talented actors are seen playing pivotal roles in the series. 

 

The book was set in the newly Independent India where the story revolves around four families. But in the trailer, the story is centered around Rupa Mehra(played by Mahira Kakkar) who wants to find her 19-year-old daughter Lata a suitable boy for marriage. But Lata stands against the tradition and embarks the journey of love and heartbreak where 3 different men try to impress and win her heart. The trailer also gave a sneak peek into the character of Ishaan Khatter who is seen playing the role of Mann Kapoor who falls in love with Saaeda Bai(Tabu), a courtesan.

 As the Mann and Saaeda dare to love each other, their forbidden romance begins to jeopardize Mahesh’s(Ram Kapoor) political career.

 

The story covers some complex issues like conflicts between modernity and traditions, caste system, generation gap, and religion-based prejudice. The trailer seems to be amazing and has already garnered much attention to it. The people have got really excited about the release of this much-awaited series inspired by a famous novel ‘ A suitable boy’.
