In 1932, first-ever Gujarati film Narsinh Mehta was released. No one was really interested in Gujarati movies but when Abhishek Jain’s Kevi Rite Jaish released in 2014, the audience started believing in Gujarati Cinema once again. Not that urban Gujarati films weren’t made before Kevi Rite Jaish, but it was the storyline and the way they promoted the movie and after that, there’s no looking back and year after year Gujaratis got masterpieces and everyone accepted the change wholeheartedly.

This month, Chaal Jivi Laiye completed 50 weeks in Cinemas and it’s still doing well.
It was also released in USA, UK, Africa, Newzealand, Germany, Australia, Singapore and Canada.
We have faded memories of watching some Gujarati movies in the 70s or 80s. Mostly they were very poorly made, with poor actings and no budget and all that changed. The transition of the Gujarati movies from being sort of nothing to being very competitive to Bollywood movies, this industry has come a long way.
