Friendship Day 2020

Friendship Day in India is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of August. And international friendship day is celebrated on the 30th of July. So you have an option to celebrate either on Thursday or Sunday or both. Sometimes, we can’t really imagine our life without friends. They make our life wonderful and cheerful. Therefore friendship day is celebrated to appreciate this special bond called friendship. 

Originally, Friendship day was founded by Hallmark in 1919. Back then, the day was celebrated by sending each other greeting cards. But eventually, in 1940, the trend died off completely. However, in 1998, Winnie The Pooh was declared as the World’s Ambassador of Friendship at the United Nations and again in April 2011, The United Nations officially recognized Friendship on the 30th of July. However, many countries observe friendship day on the first Sunday of August. 

This occasion is the only occasion which is celebrated and observed across the globe. Now in the world of social media, friendship day is even acknowledged more than ever. People post pictures and videos with their friends with heart-touching captions and making their friends realize how much they mean to them. It feels wonderful to express love for your friends who have always been there for you in thick and thin.
