Breathe: into shadows

Abhishek Bacchan makes a debut on the OTT platform with Breathe: Into shadows. The series also stars Nitya Menon and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles. This Amazon original Breathe into shadows is a season two of the original series Breathe which got released in 2018. Well, there is no connection between Breathe (season 1) and Breathe:into the shadows(season 2). In this pandemic, where terrific shows have come upon OTT platforms, the season 2 of breathe is not that great as it was expected.

Well, the story begins with Sia, the daughter of Avinash(who is a psychiatrist) and Abha( a chef of a five-star hotel), who gets kidnapped at a birthday party. After the kidnapping, the kidnapper contacts the couple after months and proposes them to commit heinous crimes like murder to save their daughter. So Avinash starts killing people to save his daughter. And then comes Amit Sadh, who investigates the case. Amit Sadh plays the role of a cop named Kabir Sawant who has guilt trips in his mind and struggles to manage his anger when provoked. He has his two companions with whom he tries to solve the case. The pace of the story is too slow and it catches its speed only after the 4th episode. And then finally the story crawls itself to a mind-boggling end.

The moral of the story is quite unreasonable. Like you can’t be justified in doing serious murders of innocent people to save one’s child. And this was also a problem with season 1. But still season 1 managed to be a more decent thriller as compared to season 2.

Conclusion

Breathe: into shadows is quite an average series. The storyline has some undeniably flaws. There are some cringe scenes where everybody goes on repeating the same line. Still, the performances by the supporting casts make Breathe season 2 bearable. Season 1 of Breathe was quite better than season 2 in terms of engagement and fresh plot. The director has tried to mix some mythology and balance it parallelly with other subplots into the story which is fresh but still, it fails to impress the audience. The series is not as gripping as it should be because of the slow-paced storyline while the cinematography and camera work is quite good. We were expecting a little more from season 2 because season 1 was simply excellent. During the whole series, Amit Sadh’s performance is a must-watch. Also, the supporting cast did a brilliant job and had an amazing screen-presence. So if you are thinking of watching this series please keep your expectations low from this one if you have watched season 1.
