Instagram tries to fill up the space of the banned app Tiktok, by testing a new feature called Reels that allows its users to create videos of 15 seconds. India is the 4th country after Brazil, France, and Germany where the Reel feature is being tested. After the ban of Titok, many Tiktokers were in the search of a replacement for the app. Now Instagram itself has stepped in to provide short crisp videos just like Titok.
While the feature is still in the testing phase, it could give a solid competition to Indian TikTok rivals apps like Ropaso, Mitro, Chingari, and Moj. Instagram already started working with renowned Youtubers and Influencers of India to populate the feature. According to Vice President of Facebook India, Ajit Mohan said that video content makes up one-third of all Instagram posts and 45% of videos are less than 15 seconds. Facebook’s Vice president of Product, Vishal Shah said that this feature is to support and push Indian content creators to become global stars. He also further added that the Reel feature will be the future of entertainment.
The reels feature allows users to create short videos on the app itself by adding creative filters and music. After successfully recording the reels video users can share it with their followers. There’s also an option to speed up or slow down the parts of videos and an align option that will help creators to sustain their position in front of their camera, while recording multiple cuts in the single video. The AR effects are also added in the feature to make videos look more attractive and interesting. The users are also given an extra section of reels on their explore page where they can separately view only reels videos.
How to create Reels videos on Instagram?
- Open the Instagram app.
- Tap on the camera icon and select reels option
- To record the video, tap on the big circle icon. To stop recording tap on the same big circle icon.
- Before recording the video, you can add effects given on the left side. Pick your favorite and it will show up on the big circle. Now tap on the big circle to begin recording.
- You can also add music to it by clicking on the music icon.
- Now after creating the video, share it with your followers
