Due to this pandemic, each country is going through an economic crisis one never thought before. The extended lockdown has also put our economy at stake. So, our PM Narendra Modi addressed the nation in his half and hour-long speech where he stretched upon to be Vocal for Local.
And this line Vocal for Local led people to raise many questions on social media or otherwise. Whether Pm meant to promote only Indian companies and their products or the products manufactured in India. So to clear the air of confusion, the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party clarified that local products don’t only mean products of Indian companies. But also products manufactured in India by MNCs.
Bjp spokesperson GVL Narsimha Rao also made it clear that they haven’t distinguished between products of Indian companies and products manufactured in India by MNCs. Local for us means anything manufactured in India. There is no compulsion or directive to buy products. However, he added that he expects people to buy more and more products made in India.
So, this was the actual meaning of Vocal for Local. However, after the Pm’s speech, social media was flooded with the #Vocalforlocal trend. Many Indian brands came up with beautiful graphic pictures and captions supporting Pm’s line Vocal for Local. Many influencers also started putting up stories for supporting local brands. Many videos have been made for Vocal for Local enlisting Indian brands to go for. Now a wave of going local has been started in the nation. Also, it is a crucial time to support our Indian products and we should definitely support local brands.
However many people still have a mindset that foreign products are better than Indians and this kind of thinking pulls us back. So we need to change our mindset and promote each other’s business in this difficult time. There are some sectors where Indian brands have no solid position in the market and there is a huge need to change that.
Also according to our experts, Indian brands in the FMCG sector, home and living, health, and wellness categories have quality products that will surely get benefited after being promoted as Vocal for Local.
However, to survive in this competitive market, our Indian brands need to pull up their socks and need to improve the quality, pricing, and marketing strategy to stay in the minds of people. This will directly increase the trust in Indian brands. By going local we will have employment generation too that will revive our economy. So there are innumerable advantages of going vocal for local. I urge everybody reading this to support local brands and use more Indian brands. We have the capacity and ability to be self-reliant so why not be AATMANIRBHAR. So say no to foreign brands and go local. This should be our lifetime mantra that will help our country to stand still in difficult times too.
