Ramy Youssef won the Golden Globe awards 2020 for the best performance in the Television comedy beating big names like Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, and many more. Many of you may not have seen his show Ramy, but now you have a chance to witness the show on Amazon prime video. Also, the show released its season 2 after the show’s season 1 got critical acclaim. 

 

So basically, Ramy Youssef plays the role of a millennial Muslim-American guy who is just like any other American millennial who sleeps around, parties with friends, is clueless but, also strays away from his religion. But after returning from the Egypt trip, he suddenly decides to enter into the spiritual world and wants to quit sinning. So he follows an Islamic religious leader called Sheikh Ali. 

 

In this season, you will get to see how Ramy is struggling to keep up with Islam. His determination is driven because of the feeling to compensate for hooking up with his cousin sister in Egypt. This incident works as a perfect catalyst for his quest to follow Islam’s religion. There are many incidents in the series that will make you feel a little uncomfortable. Or will make you wonder about the daily prejudice that takes place around us. There are some funny scenes in between that will make you laugh and some visible stereotype comedy scenes that are a little cringy. 

 

But as a whole, you will love this series. Also, in this season, many episodes focus on the protagonist’s family members and their minds. As the protagonist decides to be less self-obsessed about himself.  The show depicts the unconventional spiritual journey of an American Muslim guy who lives in New Jersey. It has strong writing, great performances, and an engaging storyline that will keep you hooked up with the show. 

 

Ramy’s journey to find the purpose of his life will quite resonate with you.  At some point in time, we all wonder what’s our life’s purpose. Or why were we put on this earth? This season may not answer your questions, but you will find it relatable to the feeling of Ramy. The show is quite complicated, nuanced, and has depicted the controversial community of Muslims in America. 

 

Season 2 in itself is a little provocative, funny, and a little complicated. Ramy has done a fantastic job in the series, and you will find him quite deserving of the award he won this year. So go binge-watch this series on Amazon Prime and witness the great content that will move you and make you laugh at the same time.
