The central government is planning to reopen banquet halls at 50% capacity across the country after lifting restrictions from the opening of hotels, restaurants, and monuments. An announcement relating the same was made by the Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel.
Prahlad Patel said in a webinar organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry that the Tourism industry had to face severe challenges due to COVID-19. They are trying to help the tourism industry with the best of their capabilities. They have open hotels, restaurants, and monuments and soon they will be opening the banquet halls at half of their capacity. So that the tourism industry can get revived. They have been able to revive the air-travel and will continue to increase its working capacity.
The minister further said that the pandemic has opened a new set of development opportunities and has united stakeholders to fight against the situation.
The tourism industry is a pivotal sector for the development of the economy. Also, the country has immense opportunities to increase wellness tourism in the country. Said the minister.
The tourism industry is the worst affected sector of the economy. Lakhs of employees working at wedding catering units have been shattered due to COVID-19. Unlock 1,2,3 has still not allowed weddings to have more than 50 people. Migrant skilled works including halwais, chefs from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Kolkata are wondering and waiting for the central government to allow large gathering of people at weddings
. Many people are suffering due to restrictions put on weddings. Because the wedding industry accounts for employment of lakhs of people around the country. It’s high time to revive the industry as almost every sector has started working except the offices or factories located in containment zones. The SOP should be released regarding the working of banquet halls so that people can get their employment opportunities back.
It is a tough time for every sector and everyone in the country. We do not need to lose hope. Also, the government should take some action to revive the economy. Yes, it’s tough to handle a country with a 1.3 billion population, but where there is a will there’s the way. The government should come up with schemes to help the industries bounce back smoothly.
Though the central government hasn’t announced officially to allow banquet halls to work at 50% of its capacity, speculations and discussions are going on for the same. So let’s wait for an official announcement. Till then, stay safe, and do not forget to wear a mask and maintain social-distance around people when heading out.
